Day 4

 After a pretty tough day yesterday, I woke up today feeling motivated and ready. I woke up at 7 am to leave at 7:30 and get to Sunapee by 8. The day consisted of dance parties, endless juice boxes and snacks, playing, diapers, and learning how to give them their medication. All four kiddos had an absurd amount of energy which never died down. We watered plants, played games, and did just about anything and everything to keep their big, adventurous minds busy. Today was exhausting but I learned a lot and had a lot of fun while doing it. When giving their medication I put the correct dosage into a bottle and fed it to the youngest. The medicine, an orange syrup, is to help with the seizures caused by her epilepsy. She took the orange milk like a champ and we continued through our day! Excited for what day 5's adventures have in store! Total Hours: 12

Weekly Reflection

  In only a couple more days and I will be graduating which is absolutely crazy. The past two weeks have gone by so insanely fast. I have had so much fun learning with the kids and creating relationships with them that I know will last a lifetime. As much work as they are they are the sweetest and most loving kids I have ever met. This week alone they have given me so many flowers, shared their snacks, and have always been glad to see me and so sad to see me leave. Not only have they given flowers to me but classmates, parents, and the neighbors. They say hi to everyone they see and always brighten people's day. I also have become a lot closer with the mom and I'm super grateful for the experience to be able to spend time with this loving family.  Last week I was getting my blood drawn and my phlebotomist and I were talking about want kind of nurse I wanted to be. Day 13

 I wrapped up the last day of senior project getting ready for express fest. I completed my final review of the entire project and then I finished putting together all of my interviews and daily blogs. After putting all of those together, I finished up my presentation trifold poster board and practiced for tomorrow! Total hours: 4

Weekly Reflection

       Week one of the senior project is already done, not sure how but I have had a blast. This week I have spent my days with 4 kids. Not only are they all under the age of 4 but two of them have the same gene that carries Epilepsy. This week I have learned all about Epilepsy in children and have become fascinated by it. I have learned how to give them medication, the diagnosis, and how to use a rescue medication to pull them out of the seizure. Let alone actually learning how to manage 4 young kids, all with a wild imagination. I have absolutely loved my project so far, I love kids and so I have had so much fun keeping them entertained and also learning about them. I also love that I am helping out the parents so much by allowing them to take a load off and focus on other tasks that have been pushed aside throughout the years.  I know that the parents have been super appreciative of my help which makes everything worthwhile.    I would like to ...
